Markets and Mediterranean flavours
The city is built around its markets, from the famous La Boqueria off the Rambla to the neighbourhood food halls, where Lara finds the day's best produce. She brings down the great products of the Catalan coast too: gamba de Palamós, L'Escala anchovies, rice from Pals, Empordà DO wines and Empordà olive oil, the same ingredients she cooks with on her home stretch of the Costa Brava.
From all of this she builds Catalan and Mediterranean menus: a slow suquet de peix, a golden fideuà, paella with Pals rice and a cool esqueixada of salt cod, finished simply and matched with Empordà wines. Whether it is an intimate dinner or a celebration, the food keeps the honest flavour of the coast at the heart of the city.
