She shops the markets of Palafrugell, La Bisbal d'Empordà and Palamós and lets the morning decide the menu.

From there come the classics of the coast: a long-simmered suquet de peix, a fideuà rich with seafood, a cool esqueixada of salt cod to open the meal. Each dish leans on Empordà oil and the day's catch rather than on fuss, the honest cooking of a village that has always lived from the sea.

Beaches and coves
